Overview
The Benjamin Franklin Educational Foundation was established to support the innovative mission of the Benjamin Franklin Classical Charter
Public School located in Franklin, Massachusetts. At inception, the Foundation is undertaking a capital campaign for the purposes of securing land for and building a permanent facility for the School. The ongoing mission of the Foundation is to continue the support of capital investments made in the Benjamin Franklin Classical Charter
Public School's library and other academic programs, and to continue to provide funds for parent education forums.
Challenge and Fiscal Realities:
The school currently rents a 16 room classroom facility in Franklin, Massachusetts. However, with the increased enrollment, our school has quickly outgrown this facility. The legislation which permitted the establishment of charter schools in Massachusetts specifically prohibited the use of district school building funds for the capital purposes of charter schools. Therefore, the school's primary source of funding for a permanent school building will be through the generous support of individuals, Foundations and Corporations.
In order to carry BFCCPS to the next stage in achieving the school's vision, ten acres of land were purchased in 2000 by the Benjamin Franklin Educational Foundation. The Foundation intends to finance and construct a state-of-the-art, energy-efficient school facility that will allow the school to educate and develop students in a spacious, pleasant, and functional learning environment.
