Ben's Best 2010

I am pleased to be sharing
with you a document that celebrates the best of the Benjamin Franklin
Classical Charter Public School. As a charter school we embrace our
responsibility to not only innovate, constantly striving to improve the
ways in which we deliver on our unique mission, but also to disseminate
our best practices for others to take what might be useful to them, as
teachers, school administrators, and parents.

All of the practices and
initiatives described in the following pages are built on the unique
mission of school. That mission is to assist parents in their role as
primary educators of their children by providing the children with a
classical academic education coupled with sound character development and
community service. All of our best practices stem from the combined daily
efforts of our faculty, staff, Board of Trustees, parents, and community
to implement this mission successfully.

I would be remiss if I did
not thank Susan Davis as the facilitator of the FIT team that made this
document a reality. Her leadership on this project is a wonderful example
of what the Faculty Input Team can be and how a school can benefit from
teacher leaders. The FIT team is one of our best practices you’ll read
about inside and one of the things that I think makes BFCCPS a unique
place.

We have a very special
school here. Our hard work each day innovating, applying, and adjusting
our best practices is motivated by our shared understanding that what we
do is all about children. I invite you to take some time and review some
of the practices that our staff has identified as what we do best. As we
strive for continued success, I hope to continue to learn from you and
other members of the community as well.
