Welcome to a new year at BFCCPS!

This year we will continue having choral rehearsals before school at BFCCPS. Our Fine Arts Department wants to continue offering a vocal group for the full year to improve the quality and consistency of the chorus. In order to have a consistent chorus all year, the rehearsals will again be before school on Monday and Wednesday from 7:30 - 8:10. This schedule does not interfere with the Symphonic Band program. Chorus will commence in September and run through June.

The BFCCPS Chorus will be learning a wide variety of repertoire, including holiday pieces, major choral works, musical and pop literature. Correct posture and singing technique will be stressed. As vocalists, the chorus is privileged to have an instrument built inside! However, with this privilege comes the responsibility of learning how to use this instrument to its best ability. It is my constant goal to “raise the bar” in standards for the BFCCPS Chorus. I have seen many improvements in these students’ abilities, as they are so very willing and ready to learn!

**Expectations: The chorus member is expected to attend all before school rehearsals. This is our time to meet, and all rehearsals are mandatory. Chorus is a class commitment and will receive a grade every term. The BFCCPS Code of Conduct will be followed and the Chorus grading system and other information will be available in the Chorus Handbook.

There will be 2 concerts a year. We may also be visiting local Nursing Homes around the holidays, date to be determined. I am looking forward to working with the chorus again this year. Join us and see yourself grow as a musician!

~Mr. Matt Niebels, Choral Director
